Mini Piling Dundee

Dawson Foundation Engineering provides professional mini piling services in Dundee, supporting residential, commercial, and industrial projects across the city and surrounding Tayside region. Whether you are extending a property in Broughty Ferry, developing a commercial unit in the city centre, or undertaking foundation works in Angus or Perthshire, we deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective piling solutions.

We regularly operate in urban, coastal, and mixed ground conditions typical of Dundee and the surrounding areas.

What is Mini Piling?

Mini piling involves the installation of small-diameter piles using compact piling rigs. It is particularly suited to:

  • Restricted access locations
  • Low headroom interiors or basement projects
  • Sites close to neighbouring properties
  • Vibration-sensitive environments
  • Variable or challenging soil conditions

This makes mini piling an ideal foundation solution for Dundee’s mix of traditional tenements, new housing developments, and commercial regeneration projects.

    Pile Sizes

Mini piles are typically considered to be under 300mm in diameter, although we install piles ranging from 100mm to 600mm across Dundee and the wider Tayside region.

Larger piles may still be classed as mini piling when installed with compact rigs. The classification is often determined by site access, logistics and equipment size, rather than diameter alone.

Our Mini Piling Capability in Dundee

Our rigs weigh under 20 tonnes and are designed for flexibility and performance in restricted or confined environments. They are capable of installing pile diameters up to 600mm, making them suitable for both domestic and commercial applications.

We regularly provide mini piling in Dundee for:

    • Residential extensions and refurbishments
    • Commercial and mixed-use developments
    • Underpinning and structural reinforcement
    • Retaining walls (contiguous or king post)
    • Internal works such as lift shafts and mezzanines
    • Sites with made ground, soft soils, or granular conditions
    • Developments near watercourses or protected areas

    How did it begin?

Oliver began his career in 2004 as a piling operative, gaining hands on experience in a variety of piling and underpinning techniques. In 2010 he attended the University of Brighton from which he graduated with a first class master’s degree in civil engineering. After graduating he joined Roger Bullivant Ltd and went on to manage both their South East and North West mini piling divisions.
