Mini Piling Ayrshire

Dawson Foundation Engineering provides professional mini piling services in Ayrshire, supporting residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects throughout the region. Whether you are extending a property in Ayr, developing a commercial unit in Kilmarnock, or constructing a new build in Irvine or surrounding towns, we deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective foundation solutions.

We regularly operate across coastal, rural, and urban sites typical of Ayrshire’s diverse landscape.

What is Mini Piling?

Mini piling involves installing small-diameter piles using compact piling rigs, making it particularly suitable for:

  • Restricted access properties
  • Low headroom interiors or basement works
  • Sites close to neighbouring structures
  • Environments where vibration needs to be minimised
  • Ground conditions affected by made ground or coastal soils

This makes mini piling ideal for Ayrshire’s mix of coastal developments, historic towns, and expanding residential areas.

    Pile Sizes

Mini piles are typically considered to be under 300mm in diameter, although we install piles ranging from 100mm to 600mm across Ayrshire.

Larger piles may still fall under the mini piling category when installed with compact rigs. In many cases the classification depends more on site access and equipment logistics than the pile diameter itself.

Our Mini Piling Capability in Ayrshire

Our piling rigs weigh under 20 tonnes and are designed for mobility and efficiency in confined or restricted environments. They are capable of installing pile diameters up to 600mm, enabling us to support both domestic projects and larger structural developments.

We regularly provide mini piling in Ayrshire for:

    • Residential extensions and self-build homes
    • Commercial and mixed-use developments
    • Underpinning and foundation reinforcement
    • Retaining walls (contiguous or king post)
    • Internal works such as lift pits or mezzanines
    • Sites with weak soils, coastal ground conditions, or made land
    • Projects near rivers, coastlines, or protected areas

    How did it begin?

Oliver began his career in 2004 as a piling operative, gaining hands on experience in a variety of piling and underpinning techniques. In 2010 he attended the University of Brighton from which he graduated with a first class master’s degree in civil engineering. After graduating he joined Roger Bullivant Ltd and went on to manage both their South East and North West mini piling divisions. In 2022, Oliver became a chartered civil engineer and a registered ground engineering professional. Olivers unique development, from piling operative to chartered civil engineer, enables him to produce practical engineered solutions to the most challenging of projects.
