Dawson FE

Project Overview

This week, the Dawson Foundation Engineering (DFE) team travelled north to Falkirk, Scotland, delivering specialist ODEX piling works on a constrained site with challenging ground conditions. The project involved the installation of 7 No. 220/190 ODEX piles, providing a robust and reliable foundation solution through variable strata.

Ground Conditions & Pile Design

The piles were advanced with casing to depths of up to 6.0 metres through weak mudstone and intact coal seams, before being socketed 3.0 metres into medium strong sandstone to achieve the required load capacity. All piles were reinforced throughout their full length and tremie grouted with neat cement, ensuring excellent structural performance and long-term durability.

Engineering & Delivery

All piling works were designed in house by DFE’s chartered engineer, allowing the team to tailor the pile design precisely to the site geology and loading requirements. The use of the ODEX system enabled safe and controlled installation through difficult ground conditions, minimising risk and maintaining programme efficiency throughout the works.

Quality & Performance

Despite the complex geology encountered, the works were completed efficiently and to a high standard, demonstrating DFE’s capability in delivering specialist piling solutions across the UK, including remote and logistically challenging locations.
